France Open Skiff, 2012 - Easter Weekend
You are all warmly invited to the French Open Skiff event in Lac du Der
in Champagne-Ardenne, just 3.5 hours from Calais. The event is over the
Easter weekend, 7-9 April.
The club is expecting approx. 60 boats, over half will be RSs, including
almost the complete RS700 & RS800 fleet from France and Benelux.
The concept is truly international - the idea is to race and also to meet other skiff sailors from all the countries around.
Most competitors are staying at the accommodation in the sailing
centre. For families with children, chalets can be hired nearby, 5
minutes walking distance, there are plenty of activities for the
children and non sailors.
Created in 2003 as a training event with friends, it has become one of
the most important open Skiff events in Western Europe. Half of the
fleet are French boats, the rest are coming from Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and, hopefully, the UK.
Since 2010, the club added training and race coaching to the event.
Pete Barton did the coaching in 2010, which was extremely successful.
This year, Pete is back, with Kevin Fisher (29er World Champion) for the
French speaking crews.
