Thank you Matt Conner, out-going RS700 Class Chair
Please see the message below from your out-going Class Chair, Matt Conner:
At this year’s AGM I stated my intention to stand down as RS700 Chair. It’s been a pleasure to support the class over the last two years. It was a commitment that was made much easier by the excellent team in the RS Class Association. I think we can all agree that Laurie’s support at the Nationals was superb.
The 700 may be in its 25th year, yet it remains a very modern class, bringing high performance sailing in a highly attainable platform, at an accessible price point. Our fleet is active and welcoming to all.
The great news is that we have elected Rob Higgins and Elliot Booley as our new Joint Chairmen. Rob has been at the front of the fleet for many years, winning multiple titles. Having won the Silver Fleet last year, Elliot brings perspective from someone who is working his way up the rankings. I’m really pleased to have such strong successors and am confident that their energy and passion for the class will continue to bring everything we love about the 700 to all the sailors in the class, both new and longstanding.
I’d like to extend thanks to them for stepping up and also to the rest of the team who support the class as Tech Reps (Nathan Steffenoni), Training Rep (Robbie Bell), and Social Channels (also Rob and Elliott).
Hope to see some of you at Grafham.
Matt
I’m sure you will all join me in thanking Matt for his energy, enthusiasm, time and good humour during his tenure as Class Chair. He has worked incredibly hard to leave the fleet in a strong position and we are very grateful for his commitment and contribution to the class. We look forward to seeing Matt at RS700 events in the future!
I would also like to thank Rob and Elliot for taking on the role of Joint Class Chairs and all of the committee members for their continued commitment and support. I wish the new committee every success for the season ahead and look forward to working with you.
Laurie
