UK RS National Championships 2002
Now the 2001 Championships are behind us, we are starting work on next
year. The venue is Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy (WPSA), and
the dates have reverted to the generally preferred late August slot
19 - 23 August 2002 RS300, RS400, RS600
25 29 August 2002 RS200, RS700, RS800
K6s 12 - 15 September 2002 Royal Solent YC, Yarmouth
The class groupings have been amended slightly to equalise numbers of
boats and competitors. PLEASE NOTE THAT, SINCE PREVIOUS MAILINGS, THE
RS300s & RS700 HAVE SWAPPED DATES.
WPSA is based on the former Royal Navy Air Station on the southern shore
of Portland Harbour. The Academy site covers 7 acres, and launches
directly into the sheltered waters of Portland Harbour. Immediately
outside the harbour, magnificent sailing is found in Weymouth Bay.
I will be sending detailed information about camping, accommodation, etc.
early next year. We intend to put every effort into making this as
family-friendly and sociable as this years Nationals, and if you have
any ideas or suggestions towards making this event a monster, please
contact the RS Office, so that they can be put to the Events Committee.
More details are available on website under events, and in 2002 Yearbook.
