RS700 Rule Change - Outcome of Vote
The votes are in and have been counted regarding the proposal that the RS700s should embark upon trials of a revised weight and leverage equalisation system. The current 33% system equalises people based on their weight and height. The proposal was to trial a 66% equalisation system of weight and leverage. RS700 members were asked to vote on the immediate acceptance of the proposed rule change for the 2004 season, with the agreement that there would be a further vote to ascertain if the membership would like to adopt the change permanently, make alterations to it for subsequent implementation, or reject the proposal and return to the existing 33% equalisation rule at the end of the 2004 sailing season.
The votes were overwhelmingly in favour of the proposed trial. Of the 99 eligible voters, 54 votes were received, of which 44 (81%) were for the proposed trial, 8 (15%) were against, and there were 2 abstentions.
The trial rule change will go ahead with immediate effect.
