I was under the impression that there was going to be a training day the day before the Nationals, but on closer inspection I realised that the post was referring to last years Nationals! Does anyone know if there is anything formal or informal planned for this year? I was keen to get out on the water - if not just to check I'd rigged my boat the right way around! Will the Mountbatten centre allow us to sail on the Wed?

There is no formal training or coaching for RS700s before the 2014 Nationals.

However, Plymouth Youth Sailing and the Mount Batten Centre are happy for you to arrive early on the Wednesday, park your trailer and go sailing.  If you know this is what you are going to do please let me know and I can make sure that someone is there to welcome you and park you in the correct spot.  Also it will mean that PYS can direct you to the correct sailing area.

Thanks

Thanks Clare, I'll probably aim to get there around lunchtime on Wed, but I can confirm closer to the time if required.

I will also be getting down there at 12.01pm and going for a sail in the afternoon if anybody wants to do a sail round the harbour and to the sailing area and a bit of training with me

Hi Clare

I'm travelling down on the Monday.  Any chance I could leave the boat at the club and maybe have a cheeky sail on Tuesday.

If people are interested I'm also happy to have an on the water tuning session on the Wednesday. Alternatively I'd be happy to run a quick shore based coaching session or even a boat bimbling clinic.  I guess it's too late to arrange a RIB to do a more formal session even if the interest was there.  Just let me know if either option appeals and what you'd like to do.

Ps If we do something formal, my fee as always is a donation of your choice to Sail4Cancer, anything gratefully received.

Cheers

Hi Ian

Yes you can leave boat earlier and sail but you will be charged by the Mount Batten Centre a small daily rate. Can you contact Stuart Jones (Plymouth Youth Sailing Sec/Development Officer) directly on 07917 407771 [email protected]

I have already informed Stuart Jones  about Richard Wadsworth, Neil Ashby, Adrian Howe, Alex Reid arriving Wed and wanting to sail. So these are your definite tgt audience.  Thanks for offering to do some coaching! So let's make this formal:

Hello RS700 Sailors

Ian Nolan has just kindly offered to provide pre-nats coaching on Wed 20 Aug. This could be on the shore or on the water, tuning or boat bimbling. He'll tailor his output to your needs.  Pse contact me asap if you are interested so we can sort something out. His fee as always will be a donation of your choice to Sail4Cancer.

Cheers

Clare

Can I strongly suggest the Plymouth padawans do not wear their distinguishing long hair braids on the water this week for fear of tangling themselves and removing their scalp.

And no light sabres on the water! See SIs!
