Transport and Travel
Jubby and Pippa of Sailboat Deliveries can transport your RS700 from UK to and fro Riva for £950 per boat.
That then gives you the option to fill a car and drive (with cheaper ferry as no trailer), or book a budget airline flight and then travel by train/ferry to the venue, or ask your mate to collect you from the airport! Detailed travel tips to follow, but if you can't wait, ask the RS600 fleet!
Other sailors have suggested that the best ferry discounts are via the
Camping and Caravan Club, discounts vary and you need to join to see them, we can share more insight later, but one sailor quotes "we got a motorhome for the price of a small car".
"Sailboat Deliveries is a Limited company specialising in delivering competitors boats to European events. We are members of the Road Haulage Association and operate within their guidelines and conform to all legal requirements. We take pride in delivering a professional and friendly service. We run all of our vehicles on a tachograph (which is a requirement for deliveries of this size) and hold commercial vehicle insurance with goods in transit cover. We operate at the forefront of the dinghy marine industry working closely with many of the manufacturers.
We have premises in Emsworth on the South Coast where we load the boats. Competitors can drop off and collect their boat at any time convenient to them (before our given loading date) and trailers can be left for the duration.
The price for delivery is inclusive of VAT and Carnet cost (now a requirement post Brexit) and bookings are taken on a first come first served basis with a 50% deposit required to secure a space (along with a completed delivery booking form) and the balance then due one month before the event. If we don’t have any 505s then the minimum number would be 6 RS700s and the maximum would be 10 boats."
