Calm and wet conditions greeted the 24 200s at the End of Season Championships at Datchet. After a short postponement the fleet launched in a light breeze (the 1st race started in 2 knots)! This was the story of the afternoon - two light wind races were completed with Ben Palmer and Lucy Preston making the most of the tricky conditions.
Day 2 brought more wind (10-12 knots) and sunshine. Four good races were held with close racing throughout the fleet. The 200s behaved quite well with only one general recall, however the eagle eyed race officer did spot a few boats OCS over the course of the day. George Yeoman & Sophie Ormsby and Tim Saxton & Holly Scott took two race wins a piece, giving Tim and Holly the overall victory. In second were Nick and Juliet Charles, followed by George and Sophie in third and Steve and Katie Restall in fourth.
That that wrapped up the 200 circuit for the year in which the highlight was the Brilliant Nationals at Mounts Bay. Next year the fleet is looking forward to the bi-annual trip to Garda, the Nationals at Hayling which promises to be massive alongside the excellent regional and National events.
