Sunshine and force 2-4 winds greeted twenty seven RS200’s at the Bough Beech open on Saturday 27th April. The wind was straight down the lake, but from the north which meant that 30-40 degree shifts were the order of the day, a race officer’s nightmare. The first race got away at the first attempt and it was Philip & Robert White from Papercourt who led at the windward mark. The chasing pack snapped at their heels throughout the race but they held on to win, with Dave & Nicky Derby sneaking through to second and Andy & Geraldine Peters third. The second race saw Matt Findlay & Toby Lewis from West Kirby lead round the first mark just ahead of Harry & Pru Roome. Matt & Toby held on to win with Maria Stanley & Jon Pinner pulling through to second and Ben Ainsworth & Charlotte Lawrence third. The third race saw Maria Stanley win again from Any Peters and Dave Derby which left the points very tight going into the final race. Maria Stanley and Matt Findlay popped out of the scrum on the start line to fight things out with Andy Peters and Mike Chapman. Stanley won from Findlay & Peters to take the open, and in the process snapped up first lady as well. Jack Vincent from Crawley Mariners was the first junior.
