RS200 Overall & Fleet Division News
This years decision to launch Gold, Silver and Bronze divisions within
the RS 200 fleet has quickly gained popularity and press notice with the
publication of this weeks prize letter in Yachts and Yachting from Craig
Williamson:-
I have just crewed for my dad in the RS200 Fat Face circuit event at
Carsington SC. It was really windy: I was probably the smallest crew, so
our aim was to finish all of the races, preferably without capsizing. But
then we found out there was a Gold, Silver and Bronze fleet. This made
the racing much more interesting for everybody because we all had a goal
to aim for, even if we were not at the front of the fleet. We were really
pleased because we did finish all of the races and only capsized once,
but even better, we won the Bronze fleet and bought home a really good
prize and a trophy. I think that more events should have fleets within
fleets to make the racing more interesting for everyone, not just the
ones at the front.
Craig Williamson (aged 13) Derby
The Fat Face Racing Circuit overalls after three events are now on the
Association website. We have put which division everyone is in beside
each competitors name. Some competitors may still be moved between
divisions if blatantly we have them in the wrong division or if you do
fantastically well at an event.
There will be overall prizes in the Fat Face Circuit for silver and
bronze divisions as well as at each event. We suspect the competition for
prizes in each division may be closer and more intense than at the top!!
Matt and Emma Jenkins were leading the silver with Andrew/Eve Hartley and
Micky Wright/Howie only separated by a point in 2nd and 3rd after 3
events. Paul Goodwin and Anna lead the bronze by some margin with Pete
Craggs/Phil Nelson and Rick Newcombe/Rosie Sands again only separated by
a point in 2nd and 3rd.
With the Largs resultds about to be computed and Eastbourne next weekend,
scores could significantly change. We will let you have further updates
after these two events.
