GUL RS200 National Championship News update

The number of entries now stands at 117, so we do still have a few remaining spaces left but entries are still coming in with regularity, so to avoid any disappointment of missing this years Nationals get your entry form in the post today. There is a strict entry limit of 130 boats….

The GUL RS200 National Championship programme has now been published on the RS200 Nationals website. Take a look at what is in store for you this year…

We see the return to the popular daily seminars, with many new topics this year. We will be running a Helms question time. So now is your chance to learn some secret tips that keep some of our best sailors at the top of the fleet. Write your questions on a piece of paper and leave in the box on the bar. Chiropractor Karen will explain the common causes of hiking-boat related back-ache and how you can help yourself. Along with a few of the regulars to remind you on how a gate start works and how to get yourself in the best position… William Jeffcoat will also give you low down on Rules so you will have no excuse if you get a red flag!

The RS200 Annual Class Meeting will also be held during the Nationals this year, come along to the marquee at 10.00 on Tuesday morning to have your say on how you think things could be improved.

But most importantly the socials…. Nightly entertainment has been arranged for you at Tenby SC, discos, happy hours, karaoke, bands and the famous fancy dress party, this year come dressed as “what you would like to be when you grow up”. However the highlight of the week is on Tuesday night, with Tenby Sailing Club’s legendary BBQ, accompanying Sports Day Games on the beach.  Grab your buddies and come down to the beach for a free glass of punch and sports day style games. Are you a champion welly-wanger? Or do you have special egg and spoon skills?  Remember this year the sports night scoring will count as 30% of the buddy system.

And what of the BUDDY COMPETITION??? This year Harken have generously offered us some great prizes for the RS200 Buddy Competition. Buddy points are accumulated 2/3 from the sailing and 1/3 from the Sports Day games night. The Buddy Team with lowest overall points at the end of the week will become the HARKEN RS200 BUDDY CHAMPIONS!

Charlotte will allocate your Buddy Teams by randomly picking teams from the existing 2007 fleets...

If you do not want to participate in the HAREKN RS200 Buddy Competition, please let Charlotte know asap.

For further details on the scoring system on the buddy scheme please see the RS200 Nationals website. Buddy Teams will be place on this site within the next week.
