RS700 European Championship, Czech Republic 2017
Lipno lake, Cerna v Posumavi | 17/08/2017 - 20/08/2017
-339 Days to go to the event starts!
This looks like an absolutely fantastic event. Vaclav Brabec, President of the Czech RS Association quotes:'It is my great honour to invite you to The Crown cup 2017, which include RS700 European championship, Final Eurocup event for RS Feva and RS500 class but also International Czech championship for mentioned classes plus for RS Aero class. This feast of sailing will take place at Lipno Lake. Lipno Lake is the best place that the Czech republic can offer for sailing, being in the middle of nature with steady winds - two valuable things that we can all appreciate as a sailors.
Next year the Czech RS700 class will celebrate its 10th anniversary. This will be a great opportunity for us because the International RS700 Class Association has entrusted to us the organisation of this wonderful event.
Our motto is: We don't want to organize a regular regattas, we want to organize the most unforgettable regatta, which everyone will have extraordinary memories of for a life time.
I am really looking to seeing you all at Lipno Lake in August!'
All the details of the event, including entry form, NoR, all information on accommodation, club, etc. are available at the excellent website -
RS Sailing are loaning us 3-boat and a 6-boat stacker available, free of charge. If you would like to drive one of these from the UK to Lake Lipno, please let me know at [email protected] We will try to get you a Volvo to use.
If you would like a space on one of the stackers, please contact [email protected] The cost of delivery will be actual costs incurred divided by the number of boats; I would expect it to be cheap.
If you do this, you will want to fly out. The closest airport is Linz in Austria, which has cheap direct flights from London Stansted. The best bet from there is to hire a car - it's just 53m/85km, and takes just over an hour. If you get organised, a few of you could share a car. Heather can help with that organisation. The closest Czech airport is Prague, which is 106m/170km away (about 3 hours). The club can organize transport (with their Czech sailors, for free) or there are busses or trains. If you want to explore this option, again contact Heather.
